The first in Korea to apply AI OCR technology to provide faster and more accurate insurance service
On the xx, AgileSoDA announced that it has developed an automatic medical expense receipt automatic recognition system by applying AI OCR technology with Hanwha Life Insurance for the first time in Korea. In fact, AgileSoDA participated in the “Claim AI Automatic Review System” project which was successfully completed by Hanwha Life Insurance in this year.
Currently, OCR technology was used in the review process that confirms the Document sent by a customer and registers it in the system. However, the current solution is a method of character recognition according to the ‘pre-registered location’ of customers. It was difficult to recognize the receipt when the receipt’s format changed. Furthermore, the current system’s management cost was expensive since several types of OCR were combined.
In order to solve this problem, AgileSoDA’s ‘TwinReader’ that provides an excellent character position detection and maximizes recognition rate was introduced based on the latest NLP technology. TwinReader is a product in which core OCR technology is integrated to improve the character recognition accuracy in images. Based on the “Table Understanding” technology that AgileSoDA developed by themselves, it accurately recognizes a table that is included in receipts. Automatic extraction, correction, and conversion into DBs are much more efficient than the current system that requires manual receipt input required by insurance companies. AgileSoDA has completed the domestic patent registration of the unstructured data OCR technology, which was applied to this project, and has also applied it for overseas patents.
This is the first case in Korea that an insurance company has introduced an AI OCR system. Through this OCR system Hanwha Life Insurance plans to automate many parts of the work environment so that it secures a higher AI algorithm-based recognition. They are now planning to cooperate with global RPA companies.
